What is SAP ERP ?

Enterprise Resource Planning i.e. ERP is effective business practice to enhance productivity and optimize the process flow of any organization. SAP ERP is SAP AG's Enterprise Resource planning, an integrated software solution that incorporate key business functionality of any organization in structured way. The basic functionalities like CRM, SD, FICO, MM, HR etc are known as modules of SAP.
SAP builds these modules as product and sells them in market.
There are two modules which do not support the direct functionality of any business but are widely used for presentation and integration purposes with other modules. These two modules are :

1. Enterprise Portal (EP)
2. Process Integration (PI)

All the business modules are primarily developed in ABAP but these two are mostly developed in JAVA. Now we have option to install total java stack of SAP PI. These two modules are not executable but they need to be deployed in an application server ( ABAP web Application for ABAP modules and JAVA web application for JAVA modules).

SAP stands for Systems, Applications, and products in Data Processing.

• SAP AG is a German multinational company that makes enterprise application to manage business operations and customer relations. SAP ERP is corporation's Enterprise Resource Planning, an integrated software solution that incorporates the key business domain of the company.
• SAP Enterprise Process Integration(SAP PI) is SAP Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) software , a component of Netweaver  product group used to exchange information flow within the company and with the third party systems.
